Waiting on the Timing and Instruction of the Lord

I want to share a word I received from the Holy Spirit this morning. It was the result of something I brought to the Lord in prayer as I was reading and meditating on His word. Isn’t His word just so wonderful? It contains so many nuggets, and He really leads us, guides us, and washes us through it. We need to be open to receiving it and partner our spirit with the Holy Spirit to receive revelation. Such a treasure!
Although this was a personal word, I feel that it is so valuable to others as well. I love to share what God has given me with others to encourage them and build them up so we can be strengthened to do His work on earth and bring glory to His name.
I read 2 Chronicles 27v6 and I stopped to meditate on it. It says, “Jotham became mighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord”.
As I meditated on this, I also thought about the new season I am entering, with the release of my manual and course and the new website. I said to the Lord that I want to leave a legacy for Him and build something that will be transposed to generations to come for His glory. Being the redemptive gift of teacher and giver, this is part of my original design.
And my prayer I wrote to the Lord was this and maybe you can pray it to:
Lord God, I want to prepare my ways before You so You can establish my path and thoughts toward Your plan and purpose. I believe I have sought You so far in all I have done, and when I need to set something in place, I always bring things before You. But Lord, if in any way I have not done this or did it in my own strength, then I repent now and ask that You forgive my trespasses and give me mercy, Lord, to recoup any losses. It is not my intention to do anything without You. Please fine-tune my spirit to hear from You loudly and clearly in Jesus’ name, I ask. As I prepare to launch this new season, I ask, especially now, that You will guide me.
As I listened to soft music and meditated, I asked Him to speak to me. I asked Him to tell me what would come after I released what I was releasing in this season so that I would know how to direct this in the right way.
And I saw firstly that I was sitting in a coffee shop, my chair facing the wall behind the counter. On it was a large clock and a whiteboard with writing on it. The place looked familiar to me, and I remember it was a time about ten years ago when I was staying with my daughter for two months as she was waiting to give birth to her first little one. At that time, she was alone as her husband worked away. I was in a transition period in my studies, so I had some spare time, and we spent the time preparing and just spending time together.
Then, after that, I saw my computer screen, and on it was my email page, as I would see it when looking at my emails. My eye caught one that had the word “redirect” in bold. Interesting, I thought. I had an idea where this might be going but wasn’t quite sure. So, as I always do, I asked the Lord to help me understand and also give me something from His word to help me understand. And I heard Psalm 139v6. And I often, when I read, will also look at the correlating scriptures, so before I unpack this, I will list all the correlating scriptures confirming His word.
Psalm 139:6 "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”
Job 42:3 "You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”
Psalm 40:5 "Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.”
Psalm 139:17 "How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!”
Isaiah 55:8 "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.”
2 Samuel 7:19 "And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord God?"
From these scriptures, it is clear that we will never fathom all that God thinks about us or can fathom anything He shares without knowledge and wisdom from Him. Often, we speak things or of things but do not really have the full understanding of them yet. God has such amazing things for us, and it would be too much for us to comprehend if He had to share all at once. But it was so amazing to me how He spoke His answer through His word.
So I like to break down the elements of what He shows me to get the full meaning of what He is saying. This was what I felt in my spirit concerning the different themes in this experience.
The clock represented His timing in things and also represented the time in the day. The whiteboard was a proverbial “writing on the wall” for that day. Coffee shops will list the specials of the day on the board so you know what is available. They not going to write what is not yet available. So from this, we see that we need to take each day and fulfill the task of that day, what He says to us about that day, and receive His word for that day. When the writing is on the wall, it means it's not going to change; the future is predicated. So what He has said about you will stand and you need to trust in His timing to bring it about.
The word “redirect” is tied to redirecting to His timeline, His time for something, and ordering our steps or preparing our ways according to that. Not according to what we think it should be, not rushing into it, not lagging behind, but staying with His timing. For this, we need to walk closely to Him so we do not get out of sync with Him or get into a counterfeit timeline.
In the conclusion of this matter, I wrote this to the Lord:
Lord, You have too many thoughts for me to understand, and Your ways and thoughts are too much for me. What You say about me and have planned for me is too much for now to know - it has to be in Your timing - taking step-by-step instructions from You. It is a small thing for You to bring to pass what You have said, and it is not for me to make it happen. You will do it for Your glory, and my house to come, for many years, will be blessed because of it. Just as You blessed David and just as he acknowledged that all You had done for Him was nothing man could have done. Help me to wait patiently for the birth in Your time. In the meantime, help me prepare according to Your plans. I release the future to You, Lord, and trust You to do Your good will toward me.
I pray this word will speak to you today and that you will pray to God to help you in the coming season and to release His instructions to you so that you can stay in His timing. Take heart that His word will stand and He will establish it and watch over it. Just be patient!!
